Brown Sugar Glazed Pork Chops

I am SO HAPPY for the weekend to finally be here! Sometimes my full-time job can be stressful because its our busy season, but other times its just plain boring because things are so slow. No matter which scenario happens during the week, I’m just ready for a break!

This Friday is particularly special because it’s my hubby’s birthday! In celebration of that, I took off a 1/2 day off work so we could enjoy lunch together at one of his fave restaurants – Qdoba. Nothing fancy, but some seriously good Mexican food in our opinion. Oh, and we have a coupon for free chips and queso, so, ya know, can’t really pass that up 😀

Later I’ll be making him something extra sweet, and it’s not a birthday cake (!!!). Funny enough he is not a big fan of birthday cake (how did I marry him?! #justkidding ), mainly due to his distaste for a lot of icing. A cake is just not the same without icing, so I couldn’t serve him a naked cake on his birthday! Nope, for my husband, his special birthday treat are homemade cinnamon rolls. Yum yum! I love cinnamon rolls myself, so I’m pretty excited about this too!

I first made cinnamon rolls for him our first Valentine’s Day together. I used my grandmother’s recipe and it took me ohh… 4 hours or so to make them.  I must have really liked him (or was just crazy!). But yeah, I told him that’s not happening this time! With all the recipes you can find on other food blogs and Pinterest, there are DEFINITELY some quicker versions out there! One that I’ve been dying to try is Ali over at Gimme Some Oven‘s 1-hour Cinnamon Rolls. They look absolutely divine! I can’t wait to make them and share my experience with you guys! If you check out her site, you will see all her gorgeous photos of the ones she made. Don’t judge me when you see mine… I can guarantee you they won’t look like that! LOL! #nojudgy

But anyway, aside from sharing all the fun hubby and I are going to have today, I also wanted to share another recipe with you: Brown Sugar Glazed Pork Chops.

I’m sorry (but not really haha) for posting another pork recipe so soon, but like I mentioned in my previous post on pork, this is a staple meal in our house! These chops are sweet and little spicy, but also super simple to throw together on a busy weeknight. Just add a nice starch and/or veggie as a side and you got yourself a great dinner! I would say they only take about 15 minutes to make from start to finish. You can’t beat that! Hope you guys enjoy 🙂


Glazed Pork Chops

Brown Sugar Glazed Pork Chops

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, thin-cut pork chops
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

Directions

  1. Heat your olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
  2. In a shallow dish, mix together your brown sugar and spices.
  3. Rub the spice mixture on both sides of each chop. You want the sides to be coated evenly; you will use all of your spice mix.
  4. Once the oil is heated, place the chops in your skillet. **Careful, the oil may splatter!**
  5. After 5 minutes, turn the chops over and cook for another 5 minutes.

And that’s it, you’re finished! See, I told ya, easy-peasy. Now you know why we make these every week. I’m sure if you enjoy pork, this will become a staple meal in your house too!
